11/11/2016

Erikson Institute is an independent institute of higher learning focused on early childhood education and development. They’re celebrating their 50th Anniversary and using this occasion as a way to educate the community about their mission. For help, they went to our client, Liska + Associates.

Liska decided that one facet of the campaign should take advantage of Erikson’s location. Their Chicago campus is located on a busy corner in the River North neighborhood. (Read More)

39 Feet of Tire Tread

9/27/2016

When our client, Ideation Studios, was creating the interior design for Gerald Subaru they created an interesting graphical element for an especially long wall - a 700-inch tire tread on a partial brick wall.
Active produced the tire tread graphic using printed grey vinyl and install the 38-foot continuous graphic.

A Big Graphic to Celebrate a Big Anniversary

11/17/2015

The Sociology Department at the University of Chicago wanted to commemorate the University’s 125th Anniversary that celebrated the ground-breaking sociology research the department had produced over the years. They asked Active’s Branded Environments group to create and install a series of over-sized ‘timelines’ in the lobby of the Sociology Department.

Active produced three graphics, each 50 inches high ranging from 13-3/4 to 19 feet long. The panels tell the history of the Sociology Department by decades in a colorful, lively way.

They panels were printed on vinyl and mounted on 3/16” thick Gator Board. To account for any unevenness in the brick walls, they were mounted using strips of foam core with outside adhesive strips.

Bringing Some Nature to Your Commute

8/27/2015

If you take the CTA Green, Blue, Red, or Pink lines out to their final stops you’ll discover the stations have gone a little wild. This is thanks to a project Active produced for our client Noble Communications on behalf of the CTA and Pace.

Floor graphics have been installed in the concrete walks to create a ‘path’ from the station exit to the Pace Zoo Express bus stop where visitors can hop on a Pace bus for an express run to the Brookfield Zoo. Each station is decorated in either a snake, frog, or tiger theme.

The graphics are adhered to the concrete using a blowtorch and roller to create a ‘painted on’ look. At the conclusion of the campaign the graphics will be removed in the same fashion.

A Branded Environment Helps Tredroc Build Their Brand

2/13/2015

When re-designing their Romeoville offices, Tredroc was looking for a design that reinforced their brand and their position as the Midwest’s leader in the commercial tire/off-road tire servicing industry. Ideation Studio created a design that incorporated Tredroc’s brand imagery along with bold graphics of tire treads. Active worked with Ideation in producing and installing the graphics.

Active created a 3-dimensional Tredroc logo out of Sintra dyed to match Tredroc’s logo colors. Active also created a number of cut vinyl wall graphics of the Tredroc logo, room signage and large tire-tread marks.

Helping Make a New Lexus Dealership Special

10/28/2014

If you’re in the market for a new car, you might want to visit the new Lexus of Highland Park facility. Besides featuring a wide variety of Lexus automobiles, it also has a wide range of graphics created and installed by Active’s Wide Format Printing team

Working for the store designer Ideation Studios of Chicago, we created custom graphic wallpaper, vinyl wall lettering and graphics, ‘frosted’ window lettering, 3D lettering, office nameplates, and a ‘wall art installation’ comprised of 21 separate 1-foot x 1-foot panels.

While all materials were produced over a period of weeks, the installation was completed  in less than a day – just in time for the grand opening of the new facility.
